Brands like Vitamin Water, Gatorade, and Powerade have established themselves as the ultimate sports drinks and we love them because of the extra hydration that they give. This is especially needed after an intense workout. What makes them so unique to just plain water or other beverages is that they have electrolytes. Electrolytes are minerals, such as sodium, potassium, and calcium- that are vital for your body. They help balance the amount of water in your body, which help with hydration.
How to Maintain Electrolyte Balance
Electrolytes are important for key functions in your body. The amount of electrolytes you have can fluctuate depending on how hydrated you are. You can also replenish them with specific foods and drinks. Coconut water, pink Himalayan salt, honey, lemons, oranges, and limes are all minerals rich in electrolytes, such as potassium, calcium and sodium. This is why they make the perfect ingredients in our electrolyte water recipe and here’s how you make it.
